I have a website where visforms beta version 3.10.0 is installed accidently. The sending of the form is not working correct (it gives a 404 NOT FOUND error) so I want to downgrade to version 3.9 without losing my forms and data.
Is there a way to do this? Using the normal install-procedure is not possible.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi,

I'm really sorry for your troubles.
I trusted that the Joomla! Updater, which is supposed to only display those updates that match the "stability level" options which you choose in the configuration of the update manager of your website.
This is a Joomla! feature and worked fine.... until Joomla! 3.8.0
This Joomla! Version sadly has a bug, which showed the "Release Candiate" updates of extensions to everybody. So accidentally now everybody who updates Joomla! to 3.8.0 or 3.8.1 will see the Visforms 3.10.0 Update in their update manager. This is really not funny, but as this is a bug in Joomla! (which I did not realize early enough), I could not help it until the damage was done.

As Joomla! 3.8 is out there quite a while now and there where no problems reported here on the forum until now (and I use Visforms 3.10.0 on this website here without problems, too), I then decided to not find a workaround this Joomla! bug.

You cannot downgrad Visforms 3.10.0 to 3.9.2 because there where changes to the database for this update. If you uninstall, you will loose your forms and data! You need a backup of your website from before the update and have to recreate the website from this backup. This is the only way.

I actually think, that Visforms 3.10.0 should work fine. Maybe we can find the problem and fix it? Could you send me a link to the form that is not working (if you like to via mail to contact@vi-solutions.de). I would like to take a look at the form.

Regards,
Aicha

I will send you an email.

On the site I used the experimental router of Joomla 3.8. Maybe that caused the problem?

Well this could certainly be a reason for your problem.

I have not tested, with this setting and actually I think, all these pre Joomla! 4 changes which brings tons of bugs into Joomla! should be made for the Joomla! 4 release and not on Joomla! 3.x. But that is only my option.

I have not made changes to the Visforms router either between Visforms 3.9 and 3.10. So if the problem is a result of this Joomla! Router setting, I would think, that you have the same problem with Visforms 3.9.2

How do you display the form?

Aicha

Yes, the decision Joomla made to release a pre-Joomla4 is discutable, but we have to deal with it.

The form is displayed in a module.

As far as I know the problem was not there in 3.9.2 but it might be.
It is strange, but there is another website that I made that works fine with visform 3.10 and experimental router on.

I have send you information about the website that is broke. Hope you can use this information to make you nice product even better!

Hi Peter,

thanks a lot for your effort and supporting me, so that I can make Visforms better!

I have to go out of my office in half an hour and will not return today but I will take a look into it first thing tomorrow morning.

Aicha
