Problem uploading the subscription j4.0.0_414 package

Dear All,

I have been an avid user of visforms. I met a hurdle while working on my site. Subscription package worked fine until I had to rebuild the site. Now, second time around it just doesn't upload. It stalls at 100% and there is a red empty box displaying.
I have been trying to trouble shoot, I updated my subscription to a higher level thinking that that was the problem. But its still not uploading. I have a deadline coming up and I could really use some help to upload the subscription package to mu site. Thank you

Hi Tomy,

first off there is no known issue regarding difficulties uploading the installation package.
The source installation file (vfsubscription_j4.0.0_4.1.4.zip) is neither corrupt nor anything like damaged.
It makes no difference what Subscription version you choose.
May be, your current upload attempts with Visforms Subscription are the first after somehow changed server side settings during the meantime?
Or maybe you reached some server-side resource capabilities?

Problems of this kind are often caused by web-server/PHP code and/or settings.
The file size of vfsubscription_j4.0.0_4.1.4.zip is around 1.9 MB, which I guess should be okay with your upload-max-size settings and free accessible disk-space.

Could you please describe the error in more detail?
A slightly more detailed bug report would be very helpful.
To get a verbose error report, enable at least maximum debugging in the Joomla administration before reproducing the error:

Dashboard --> Global Configuration, tab 'System', parameter 'Debug System' = 'Yes'
Dashboard --> Global Configuration, tab 'Server', parameter 'Error Reporting' = 'Maximum'

Hope this helps, Ingmar

Dear Ingmar,

Thank you for the reply.

Upgrading my account was the only logical option for me as I did not get a reply from emailing info. So pardon my desperateness.

Ok, to give you more details here are the following:

1. Uploading ViBase package went fine, uploading other plugins went fine.

So the issue is not the size of the files nor is it that the zip file is corrupt. I understand you want to assess this issue just as much as I do. Since I do not want to pretend that I understand the steps you are asking to take to get you a more detailed answer, would it be possible if I ask you to access my site and you can check the issue ?
I understand that you are busy but I believe that would be the fastest route to getting to the bottom of this. Please send me an email to tomy@rollerskool.com and I can give you the details needed. Thank you.

Please try these two options first:

1) Just change the settings, retry uploading with 'Joomla Installer' via 'Upload Package File' and send the debug information:
Dashboard --> Global Configuration, tab 'System', parameter 'Debug System' = 'Yes'
Dashboard --> Global Configuration, tab 'Server', parameter 'Error Reporting' = 'Maximum'

2) Manually FTP-upload vfsubscription_j4.0.0_4.1.4.zip first and then retry installation of subscription with 'Joomla Installer' via 'Install from Folder'

As I am not familiar with anything regarding your hosting (provider, server settings, Joomla settings and installations, complete runtime environment) finding the reason might actually take some really serious time.

If you get stuck in solving the problem yourself, we may also help you with practical technical support.
I hope you understand that we can only offer this individual service, also due to the high number of inquiries, based on our current hourly rate of 65 euros plus VAT.

Hi!

I took you advice, adjusted the debug settings to yes and maximum and guess what? It worked! So instead of an error, it worked. Awesome!

Thank you so much for the tip and now I am on my happy way to using visforms again. Thank you

Tom
