Backend-only text field?

Hi folks,

I need a form field than can only be used in Joomla's backend. Think of "admin comment for guest book entry". The field should not be displayed in front end views.
Maybe I'm just missing some field option something somehwere?

Hi,
You can make the field an "edit only field" (field configuration tab advanced"). Edit only fields are not displayed in the frontend form view.
You can set for each field individually, whether it is displayed in the frontend data view, so just set the "Display data in frontend" in the field configuration to "Do not show".
The only view, where the field is visible then, is the frontend edit form view. So if only administrators can edit form data in frontend, this would work. And in the administration data view the field is visible, too.
