Hi - a few suggestions for this
  1. The dataview where you can select to edit your records does not allow for selecting the field order to show. If you want three fields it automatically selects based on the form order but this may not be the order you want here
  2. The search field only searches the fields you show here. Would be good to search the entire database
  3. The dataview where you have the edit button is not truly responsive. On mobile devices it cuts off the table. It would be good to adapt this for mobile where the list of fields is reduced to just one on smaller devices

Hi,

thank you so much for making so many suggestions on how Visforms might be improved. I really appriciate your efforts! It is always important to know what Visforms users would find helpful and which features they are missing. I create a feature request list from those suggestions. I continiously try to improve old features and develop new one*s and it is from this feature request list, from which I select the new features.

As Visforms is already a really advanced form solution, many of the features that are relatively easy to implement and many of the features that are really great, often requested features with a wide range of use, are already available in Visforms. On my way I have made some decisions on what is the focus of Visforms. For example, that I do not "lock" fields once they are created (like the Joomla! Custom Fields which came with Joomla! 3.7). So you can always delete fields (with only the miminum amount of restrictions), you can change the field type "on the fly".... This has some impact on what I can do with the fields or what amount of validation in the code is required, when I use fields in a certain way.

What I want to say is, that some requested features, although certainly very interesting, do not fit well with Visforms as it is and their development would be overly difficult or time consuming. Especially the SQL-field was requested in the past but I do not have a solutions for this yet as well as for a better management of Countries, States and City hierachy in conditional fields.

As I cannot tell immediately which of your suggestions are easy to implement and which do not fit so well with Visforms, I will put all your suggestions on the feature request list and take a look later, what I can/will implement and what not.

Kind Regards,
Aicha

You are welcome. As I have been building out our form I have been taking note on these so I could send them all at once. I realize that not everything can be done or will be a high priority. Working in the technology industry myself I recognize the importance of feedback and getting new ideas in the pipeline for product improvement. You have a good product that addresses a variety of needs so appreciate all that you have done here so far.

Hi Michael,

I just wanted to let you know, that I implemented you 2. point (for all frontend data views except the "My Submissions, which is a bit different and where I have to think on how I can implement this, yet).
www.vi-solutions.de/en/documentations/do...-frontend-data-views
Further on, about your 1. point, I think I did not get this correctly, when I first read your post.
It is possible to order the view "My Submissions" by date and modified date to. (You can set the order in the menu item configuration, second tab).

Regards,
Aicha

Thank you for the reply! These days you do not get much follow-up from software developers on suggestions so thank you for taking the time to do this. Much appreciated!

The fix for #2 seems to work great. I was able to rest it in different scenarios so thank you!

On #1, I was actually looking for this to be done on the "form data with edit link" view. Our users actually need access to everything and not just their own submissions. So I am looking to customize this view if possible.

thank again for your help
Michael

Another suggestion I have - in doing searches in the front end, I noticed that searches on the ID was not coming up. Searching by ID to get to the exact record would be a suggestion as well assuming this is possible.
