Hello!

Thanks for this great plugin,

Please Mr. can you also consider this feature to your next plugin version?

About K2 comment system, some times we cant just set on recapcha feature because it simply do not work, and some websites are not the kind of aceppt users registration, to restrict commments just to registere users!

So, I manage some sites with this setup:
- Accept user registration: no
- Content constrution component: K2
- Allow public comments: Yes
- Anti-spam system: Regular K2 recapcha (not work very well)

I'm not a cober, but think a implementation to cover K2 comment system can be a great update since there is no real spam killer to this componet yet, your plugin with all those IP blacklists check is the best solution I can see!

@ your plugin setup I'm Think some parameter like:

Events to monitor ( )User Registr. ( )User Registration + Login
K2 comment system to monitor: ( )No ( ) Yes

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Luciano

Hi Luciano,

your feature request opens the scope of this plugin widely. I think there are other extensions as well (such like forms for example) that struggle with spam and for which captchas are no solution.

To make this plugin work for all of them would be great but it is very much work and I must admit, that I'm not familiar with K2 for example. But to extend the plugin I have to dive into that too.

I will consider if I can find a way and time for this and I would start with including K2 then.

Regards,
Aicha

Hi Aicha,

Thank you for your quick reply., The idea from cover 3d party components is great, sure this implementation(s) changes your project direction, certainly will go "bigger", maybe a huge effort to you. If you believe its a nice idea please consider a commercial version or a donation link to you :)

As I said before, there is no other Joomla component/plugin using the features from your plugin.

Please consider a Joomla component version with this features, and separate plugins to specific 3d party components!

1- A SpamBotCheck component!
2- Plugin to K2 comment system
3- Plugin to some other comment component
4- Plugin to some popular forms component
5- Plugin to some popular forum component

Why to do this way?
I think separate plugins can be coded and delivered to J community by other developers, you just put efforts to main SpamBotCheck component saving your time and spreading the idea/support to 3d developers!

Its just an idea, thank you for your time and dedication. :)

Hi Luciano,

thank you so much for your good ideas!

You mentioned a commercial version or a donate button. Well, I have already included a donate button in the download process but maybe it is to much hidden.

So I published the donate button now right here on the left side.

Kind regards,
Aicha

Hi Luciana,

after some considerations I decided not to touch plgSpambotCheck. It's straightforword uses the proper userevents and works very well.

Therfore I decided on making a seperate plugin that uses the same mecanism to protect against spam but will be able to hook into different thirdparty extensions. This can be done with a system plugin.

Your suggestion about developing a component is still intriguing because I would have to have much less knowledge about the thridparty extensions itself. But I must admit that I didn't feel up to that task yet.

The knew system plugin covers k2 comments and can relativ easlily be extended for other extensions. It works with both Joomla! 2.5 and 3.

I'm don't use K2 by myself, therefoer I'm not very familiar with the extension but I tested very thoroughtly nontheless. Please let me know, if it works for you or if you have any problems. Let me know if you have any other extensions in mind I could cover.

You can find the download in the Download-Section:

Kind regards, Aicha
