Could not copy PHP manifest file was created by ontime
I’m unable to upgrade from 3.7.6 to 3.7.8, getting the following error:

Copy failed: /home/username/public_html/tmp/install_57b0941608996/script.php to /home/username/public_html/administrator/components/com_visforms/script.php
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /home/username/public_html/tmp/install_57b0941608996/script.php to /home/username/public_html/administrator/components/com_visforms/script.php
Component Update: Could not copy PHP manifest file.

Any advice?

Hi,

this sounds to me like a problem with the file privileges for the administrator/components/com_visforms/script.php file on your Joomla! installation, which prevents the update from copying the update script file to the proper location.

Aicha

 I recommend you the new and up-to-date documentation for Joomla 4:

Most of this also applies retrospectively to Joomla 3.

Hi,

this errors do not come from Visforms but from the Joomla! Installer. There is only one line in the entire Joomla! code, where this exact error message "JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file" is thrown. And this is, when the source file (in tmp/install_...) is found by the installer, but it cannot be copy to the destination folder. The copying itself is done by the Joomla! core, too and the error "Copy failed" is thrown by this function. Sadly the function is written in a way, that it does not give further evidence, why the file could not be copied but usually the problem is that the permissions are not correct, also 0644 sound good to me. I'm sorry, that I cannot be of further help.

Regards,
Aicha
