Using SMTP instead of phpmailer? was created by mroppo
Hey!

First i'd like to thank you for such a well designed extension.

I am having problem sending data using SMTP as my service provider wont allow usage of phpmailer.

Any solution for this?

Hi,

being a bit more specific about "having problem sending data using SMTP" would be helpful.

From the point of view of Visforms there is no difference between using an SMTP Mailer or the php mailer and if set up properly both should work. So it is usually a configuration problem of the Mailer (not of Visforms) or restrictions by the provider or the E-Mail-Client where the mails are received.
Visforms just uses the Joomla! Mailer and "hands" all information over.

Regards,
Aicha

Feeling a bit stupid now, it is working fine now even though i havent made any changes.
Anyways being more specific about the problem, after sending form i got text above "thank you message" saying phpmailer is disabled. Form data was saved normally to database. No email of the result was received.
Is it possible that this was a cache problem?

Thank you for quick reply!

Hi,

thanks for this more detailled information.
After your first post I would never have guessed, that you get a message .....

Well, the message you received did not come from Visforms but from Joomla!
As I wrote before. Actually creating and sending the mails is done by Joomla! and Visforms just delivers the data...

I guess that is might be a cache problem, that sound like the only sensible reason, if the smtp mailer was setup....
Maybe not even a Joomla! cache problem, but with your provider.
But I'm in no way sure about this.

But it is good, that it is working now.

Regards,
Aicha
