Joomla 5 Notice

Hi, I'm trying this component and I find it very useful and nice to use.

But I'd need to validate some fields (as spanish id card or bank account) that have hash digits, and I don't know where are the best place and way to do it. I'd like to do it as an override or plugin of the component, avoiding conflicts when updating the component.

Did you think on any solution to this?

Most of this also applies retrospectively to Joomla 3.

Hi xomi,

Visforms uses the jQuery validator plugin.
Plugin is using standard jQuery plugin development methods and is extendable.
You can use the addMethod function to add custom validation. Documentation is on jqueryvalidation.org/jQuery.validator.addMethod/

You can use the code in componentes/com_visforms/views/visforms/default.php at about line 230 as example. I already included a custom date validation there.

I think this gives you enough options to keep you custom validation code seperate from the Visforms code.
