Form input in email subject was created by iak
Hi, this is a great component!

I'm trying to use form input in the email subject with no success.
Is there a way to do this?
It also would be great to be able to use multiple email-fields in the form to send user email.

I'm still on Joomla 2.5 with an upgrade planned in the near future.

PS.
A possibility to put nice format on the admin email would be great as well.
Even an admin appreciate a good looking email...

Hi iak,

sorry on Visforms for Joomla! 2.5 there is no way to do this. For Visforms for Joomla! 3 there will be a custom plugin available in the near future, for this purpose. This will be a paid plugin (somehow I have to earn a living, too). There will be at least the option to use user inputs as email subject and to set the result mail address depending on user inputs.

Kind Regards,
Aicha

Hi iak,

the feature was inplemented in Visforms 3.4.2 and is part of the Visforms core now. So when you update to Joomla! 3 it will be available.

Aicha

For some reason this isn't working for me. In my form, I have a field with sentname (all in lower case) in the "name" field; in Mail Options on the form, I have [sentname] (all upper case and surrounded by square brackets) in the Mail From Name field. But I always get my default Joomla "from" name (the one in the configuration pages). The same thing occurs with the email address, but the subject line does get sent correctly.

Also, in the Email receipt text field, I have the following:

An email from the Dark Roast Hosting website has been received:

[MESSAGE]

But I still get the raw data format.

What gives?

Hi,

you cannot change the mail from with user input. The placeholder can (appart from the mail text and the result text) only be used in the email subject.
The reason why you cannot use placeholder in the mail from is, that mails which are send from a specific domain but claim to come from an mail address with another domain (that is when you use the user input as mail from) are very often considered to be spam.

But if you have a field of type email in your form, Visforms will add the user input to the replyto header of the result mail. So replying to the email, submitted by the user, works fine. Just click the reply button in your email software.

If you want to change the mail to address you may consider the paid Visforms plugin www.vi-solutions.de/en/plugin-vfcustomma...mmailadr-description

Kind Regards,
Aicha
